And We Shall Call Them...

Over the last couple of days, we have been a house divided.

I had no idea that naming goats would be so difficult. It seems that everyone has an opinion, but nobody wants to share in mine. So I made a corporate decision.

"I shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine and he shall be my Squishy. C'mon, Squishy come on little Squishy."

Okay, maybe that was extreme thinking. After all, there are 3 "little Squishy's" to name and it wouldn't be fair to call them all Squishy.

And...they are not fish.

Really, they aren't very squishy either.

I guess we could've called them Thing 1 and Thing 2. But again, there are 3 and that would leave 1 out.

"Could you get on with the names please? The kids are starting to get out of control here."

How about other famous trios?

Larry, Curly and Moe, perhaps?

Crosby, Stills and Nash?

Kukla, Fran and Ollie?

Then it hit me.

I would like to officially introduce to you, Wynken, Blynken and Nod.

"Wynken, Blynken and Nod"

Wynken, Blynken and Nod one night
sailed off in a wooden shoe,
Sailed on a river of crystal light,
Into a sea of dew.

Where are you going,
and what do you wish,
The old man asked the three.

We've come to fish,
for the herring fish,
That swim in the beautiful sea,
Nets of silver and gold have we,
Said Wynken, Blynken and Nod.

So all night long,
Their nets they threw,
To the stars in the twinklin' foam,
Then down from the sky,
Came the wooden shoe,
Bringing the fishermen home.

'Twas oh so pretty,
A sail it seemed,
As if it could not be,
And some folks thought,
'Twas a dream they'd dreamed,
Of sailing the beautiful sea,
But I shall name you,
The fishermen three,
Wynken, Blynken and Nod.

Wynken and Blynken,
Are two little eyes,
And Nod is a weary head,
And the wooden shoe,
That sailed the skies,
Is a wee one's trundle bed.
So shut your eyes,
while Mommy sings,
Of the wonderul sights that be,
And you shall see,
All the beautiful things,
As you rock in that misty sea,
Just like the fishermen three,
Wynken, Blynken and Nod.

Just like the fishermen three,
Wynken, Blynken and Nod.

And now that Gertie knows what to call them, they have finally started to settle down.

At least, for tonight.

Sounds like you've been watching too much Nemo, if you can quote Dori perfectly. ;)
Anyway, I love their names......so cute!

Oooooohhhhhhh.
Perfect!
We're thinking of adding to our farm family this fall. I'm trying to decide, piglets or kids?!!

Too cute! I love their new names. I can't believe all those goaties came from that little mama. Good grief! Ouch! But they all look very healthy and very fed. Good for her. Are ya'll keeping them all?

Heather, You "could" say that I've seen Nemo a few times! ;)

Audrey, goats aren't as stinky as piglets, but I sure would love to raise both!

Kris, #3 was a surprise! Gertie is such a good mama. We're keeping the girls for sure, but are undecided on Nod. My mom-in-law is eyeballin' him, so he may not go far!
